K-12 Dress Code
Boys and Girls Bottoms
Loose fitting straight leg or boot cut pants in khaki, navy blue, gray or black. Loose fitting Bermuda or Standard Uniform Shorts.
(see Children’s Place, Old Navy, Gap or JC Penney) shorts in khaki, navy blue, gray or black.
Must be just above knee length, no greater than 4 fingers width from the top of the knee (see Lands End).
For the girls: Khaki, navy blue, gray or black knee length skirt with solid navy blue or black leggings.
We request that you purchase knee length skorts, shorts and jumpers,
however we understand that some uniform shops
design these items to hit just above the knee.
We will take this into account as we inspect students for dress code compliance.
Boys and Girls Tops
Loose fitting, solid color, long or short sleeve polo shirts.
Sweaters and Outerwear
The only approved fleece that can be worn during the school day is the official OCA fleece.
Cardigan (Traditional or Open Front for girls) or V-Neck sweaters are the only allowed sweaters.
Cardigans and sweaters must be solid colors.
Cardigans must be button up or zippered.
School approved polos must be worn at all times.
All hooded clothing will be confiscated from the student and retained in the office until the end of the school day.
Accessories:
Belts must be worn if belt loops are exposed.Scarves and jewelry are acceptable (see details below).
Hats will not be permitted during the school day.
Footwear:No open toe or open heel shoes. Socks and sneakers are required for PE.
Be prepared with clean athletic shoes for use at the Boys’ & Girls’ Club (no street shoes).
Dress Up Days:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and other special days. Students may choose to dress up on Chapel Days.
Boys Attire
Dress pants, dress shirt, tie, belt, black or brown dress shoes.Girls Attire:
Dresses and skirts - minimum length must reach the middle of the knee. Sleeveless dresses may be worn with a minimum 2" width strap.
Leggings and tights must be worn under skirts or dresses - no bare legs allowed.
Dress pants (not khakis).
Belts must be worn if belt loops are visible.
Blouses must have modest neckline and may not be see-through.
Dress shoes with no higher than a 2” heel.
Gym Attire:
(K-1 does not wear gym attire)
2-5: Solid color t-shirt, basketball shorts, sweatpants, running leggings with shorts over top.
Boys: Loose fitting red t-shirts with no writing, OCA gym shorts or pants, and sneakers
Girls: Loose fitting red t-shirt with no writing, OCA shorts or pants, and sneakers
Dress down days: Blue Jeans - Loose fitting straight leg or boot cut no skinny jeans. (Able to pinch one inch of fabric)
Crew neck - Christian themed, solid color, or graphic tees with no writing. OCA Games and Color Run Shirts are acceptable.
Hair:
Hair should be neatly trimmed, combed and not cover or obstruct the eyes.
Extreme hairstyles and unnatural dyes are prohibited.
Boys’ hair must be above the collar and cannot cover the ears. Boys must be clean shaven.
Accessories, Jewelry, and Makeup:
Earrings are only acceptable for girls and are allowed only in the ears.
No more than two earrings in each ear, no bigger than a dime for safety. No bars or gauges.
Jewelry related to other body piercings is unacceptable.
Make-up on girls in moderate amounts is permitted.
All tattoos and similar body markings must be kept covered.
These guidelines do not cover every possible situation. Questionable attire or appearance will be referred to the Administrator.
Since styles of clothing and hair change rapidly, the school reserves the right to restrict certain fashions that are inappropriate and distracting to the learning environment.
Final decision on acceptable attire lies with the school administration.
PRE-K
Tops
Shirts and blouses must be opaque with modest necklines.
Midriffs must be covered at all times. When a student’s arms are raised no skin should show.
A camisole or tank top may be worn underneath a shirt if the shirt is too short.
Acceptable shirts:
Plain, Christian, or patriotic t-shirts (no characters or writing), Collared shirts, Henleys (3-button),
sweaters, and sweatshirts.
Tops may have images but they may not be a cartoon / movie character.
Sleeveless tops may be worn with a minimum of 2" width straps.
Spaghetti strap or thin strap tops must have a shirt with sleeves worn underneath or a sweater over.
Bottoms
Dress pants, Capri pants, "Dockers" style pants, Cargo pants, or corduroy pants.
Shorts: no shorter than four fingers’ width above the knee.
Skirts: no shorter than four fingers’ width above the knee in front AND back.
Shorts or leggings must be worn underneath
Sweatpants/fleece pants are acceptable as students spend a great part of their time on the floor.
Leggings are acceptable as long as bottoms are completely covered with a skirt or long shirt.
Colored denim pants are acceptable during the week.
